Institute of Management Consultants

Founded in 1968, the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) is the national professional association representing management consultants and awarding the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation. The Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation is the preeminent credential earned within the management consulting profession and requires candidates to meet rigorous experience, competency, and ethical standards.

IMC exists to set professional and ethical standards for the consulting profession, to provide continuing education and information relevant to the profession, and to increase public awareness of the management consulting profession. IMC offers national conferences and workshops, and maintains local chapters to meet the professional development needs of its members.

All IMC members and CMC's are bound by the Institute's Code of Ethics. Our adherence to the Code signifies voluntary assumption of self-discipline above and beyond the requirements of law. The Institute enforces the Code by receiving and investigating complaints of violations and by taking disciplinary action, including revocation of certification against any member who is found guilty of a Code violation.
